The Division of Communication helps establish and meet Texas Medical Association's goals for communicating with its members, the media, general public, and other special audiences. Manages the TMA Web site.

Digital Communications
Provides direction and strategy for all TMA social media and digital media communications, campaigns, and advertising.

Marketing
The TMA marketing area is focused on informing members of the full continuum of benefits and services available to them. The department promotes everything from information and continuing medical education to hands-on help and payment advocacy services.
- With help from key areas within TMA (communications, graphics, IT, print shop), this department develops and implements unique marketing campaigns related to TMA services, member benefits, and membership itself.
- Staffs physician-member services exhibits at internal and external conferences and events (TMA Member Services booths)
- Manages marketing contracts and with external entities, including digital and print ad buys for the association
- Provides support to county medical society staff for promotional campaigns and marketing communications.

Media and Public Relations
- Generates positive visibility for TMA and its physician members through news releases, news conferences, editorial board visits, and other activities.
- Responds to inquiries from the news media to ensure TMA's policies and programs are communicated fairly and accurately to the public.
- Conveys medicine's message by producing videos featuring TMA physicians about caring for patients, and organized medicine's issues.
- Uses a variety of strategic tools, such as print and electronic and social media, to communicate organized medicine's issues to TMA members and the groups outside TMA that influence the practice of medicine.
- Presents the Anson Jones, MD, Award annually to recognize outstanding health-care reporting by the Texas news media.

Physician Publication
- Produces the association's monthly newsmagazine and journal, Texas Medicine, and the daily news, Texas Medicine Today.
- Works closely with an editorial committee appointed by the Board of Trustees.

TMA Alliance
- A 9,000-member organization of TMA member spouses that sponsors, in partnership with TMA, community service projects aimed at improving public health and the quality of life of Texans. Examples are the Shots Across Texas immunization effort and the Family Violence: Start the Healing Now initiative.
- Supports TMA's legislative and political activities through involvement in elections and public education.
- Fosters programs to support medical families, such as malpractice support groups, Partners in Practice, and impaired physician groups.
- Provides liaison members on TMA councils and committees and is active in Texas Medical Association Political Action Committee.
- Supports state-level fundraising efforts.
