Subject: Healthy Vision 2010 Editorial Board and Media Visits

To help launch TMA's Healthy Vision 2010: Diagnosis and Treatment , editorial board visits were conducted across the state. The goal of the media tour was twofold - (1) to position the Texas Medical Association as the trusted leader and news source on all Texas health care issues, and (2) to ensure all key stakeholders clearly understood TMA's position on the uninsured, managed care, and other pressing issues affecting the viability of physicians' practices and access to health care.
One-hour visits were scheduled with editorial board staff in all major Texas cities. Local county medical society presidents and other key physicians from each community attended meetings with the TMA President. Dr. Gunby opened each meeting with a 20-minute presentation on the key issues addressed in TMA's Healthy Vision 2010: Diagnosis and Treatment . The county medical society presidents helped illustrate many Healthy Vision 2010 concepts at the local level by pointing out both the problems and the solutions in progress.
In addition to visits with major daily newspaper and business journals, Dr. Gunby gave TV and radio interviews.
The visits have been extremely beneficial. All five editorial boards visited to date indicated they would support TMA's Healthy Vision 2010 and help us educate their readers.
