Midland County Medical Society and Travis County Medical Society have nominated the following physicians to honorary membership in the Texas Medical Association. The nominations have been approved by the Board of Councilors and are submitted for approval by the House of Delegates.
District 2
Midland County Medical Society -Nick Shroff--Member of TMA 29 years. Served as president of Midland County Medical Society. Served as delegate from Midland County Medical Society to TMA. Served on the TMA Board of Councilors and TMA Committees on Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Professional Liability, and Socioeconomics. Past treasurer of Texas Medical Association Foundation and chair of TMAF Finance Committee. Past president of the Indian American Urology Association. Member of the Advisory Board of the United Ostomy Association. Past president of Indo-American Physicians Society. Fellow of American College of Surgeons. Member of American Urology Association, South Central Urology Association, American Association of Clinical Urologists, American Fertility Society, Society of Government Service Urologists, and Association of Military Surgeons. Served on Board of Trustees, chief of staff, chief of surgery, and chair of Emergency Services of Midland Memorial Hospital. Served as chief of staff, chief of surgery, and member Board of Directors of Parkview Hospital, Midland. Received American Medical Association Foundation Recognition 2004 for leadership of IMG scholarship program. Received recognition in 2003 for active teaching of family medicine from American Academy of Family Physicians. Founding member, past president, chair of Board of Directors and chair of Board of Trustees of Hindu Association of West Texas. Lead director of prostate cancer screening program in affiliation with American Association of Physicians in India and government of India. Patron member of American Association of Physicians in India. Participated since 1991 in free prostate cancer screening clinic in Midland for underinsured and low income population. Retired from active practice.

Nueces County Medical Society -Nina M. Sisley, MD-Member of TMA 55 years. Is currently director of Nueces County Public Health District, Corpus Christi. Served as past president of Nueces County Medical Society. Past president and fellow of Texas Public Health Association. Member of American and Texas Association of Public Health Physicians, American College of Preventive Medicine, American Board of Preventive Medicine in Public Health, and American Public Health Association. Advisory member to Bay Area Consortium on HIV/AIDS and Coastal Bend Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Center. Served on Nueces County Medical Society's Finance, Health Fair, Education, and Public Relations committees. On Board of Governors of United Way Coastal Bend. Member of Steering Committee for Driscoll Foundation/Furman Del Mar Lectureship in Health Sciences. Member of North Bay Community Advisory Committee and Northwest Community Advisory Committee. Served as director for Public Health Region 11 and Tuberculosis Control Region 5 for Texas Department of State Health Services. Director of Community Health Services Nueces County Department of Public Health and Welfare. Served as acting director and director of medical services for San Antonio Health Department. Served as school physician for Galveston Independent School District, Galveston, Texas. Received Y Women Award for women in careers, James E. Peavey Award from Texas Public Health Association, Clara Barton Award from American Red Cross Coastal Bend Chapter, Milton and Ruth Roemer Prize for creative local public health work, and Greatest Generation Award from Mayor's Council on Senior Citizen Affairs. Retired from active practice.

Past member of Travis County Medical Society's Committee on Hospital Staffs, Committee on Finance, and Ethics Committee. Member of Travis County Blood and Tissue Center. Travis County Medical Society's representative to Travis County Health District. Member of American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery and Texas Orthopedic Association. Received Physician of the Year Award from Brackenridge Hospital, Austin. Served as chair of Utilization Review Committee, chief of Orthopedic Section, chief of staff, chair Credentials Committee, member of combined Seton-Brackenridge Credentials Committee, hospital board, Bylaws Committee, Medical Executive Committee, and City of Austin Health Services Finance Committee at Brackenridge Hospital, Austin. Served on Quality Assurance Committee, Infection Control Committee, Credentials Committee, Rehabilitation Committee, and P and T Committee of St. David's Hospital, Austin. Retired from active practice.
Travis County Medical Society -James C. Guckian-Member of TMA 33 years. Member of American and Texas Society of Internal Medicine, American Federation for Clinical Research, American Society for Microbiology, Infectious Diseases Society of America, Lancefield Society, American College Physician Executives and master, American College of Physicians. Teaching experiences at the University of Texas Medical Branch include: instructor, Internal Medicine; director, University Health Service; assistant professor, Internal Medicine; assistant professor, Internal Medicine and Microbiology; acting associate dean for Clinical Affairs, School of Medicine. Was a consultant for U.S. Public Health Service Hospital, Galveston, Texas. Served as editor for Texas Reports on Biology and Medicine , associate editor for Continuing Education for the Family Physician , and consulting editor for Medical Microbiology. Served as chairman ad interim, Department of Internal Medicine, UTMB Galveston, and vice president for Medical Professional Affairs, medical director of Group Practice, UTMB Galveston. Served as executive associate for Health Policy and Planning, Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs, Acting Executive Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs for The University of Texas System. Currently, executive director of UTMB Austin Outreach. Involved in many research activities including: Phagocyte killing of Bacteria, Clinical and Basic Aspects of Pneumonia and Pneumococcal Disease, Mediators of Inflammation and Opsonic Attachment of Bacteria to Cells. Served on National Board of Medical Examiners Task Force Evaluation of Clinical Skills. Served as chair Committee on Introduction to Clinical Medicine, Infection Control Committee, Subcommittee on Protection of Human Subjects, Academic Planning Committee, and Ad Hoc Committee on Curriculum at The University of Texas Medical Branch. Authored numerous articles and books. Retired from active practice.
