REPORT OF COMMITTEE ON PHYSICIAN HEALTH AND REHABILITATION
CM-PHR Report 3-A-07
Subject: Case Statement
Presented by: John S. Jackson, MD, Chair
A case statement regarding the committee was completed by Cargill Associates in September 2006. The statement provides a history, record of service, opportunities to enhance the program, and recommendations of philanthropic support for the program. The committee approved the list of opportunities to enhance the program that might be achieved by fund raising as prioritized in the case statement:
Increase number of support and program staff.
Medical Director/Assistant Medical Directors for the physician health program should such a program be developed in Texas.
Increased communications between PHR and TMB.
Training on best practices for intervention and monitoring for all volunteers.
Improved communication between CMSs and the TMA PHRC to foster increased cooperation and interdependence. A partnership with county medical society alliance groups throughout the state would increase the level of early referral and intervention.
Marketing program to reach out to all physicians, medical students, and medical residency programs in the state.
Information regarding impairment and stress included in the curriculum at all Texas medical schools.
Collection and tabulation of uniform data to accurately measure outcomes.
A one-page summary of talking points will serve as the basis for face-to-face interviews with potential contributors to the PHR program.
